About the Shot

"Near Miss" is just that, this was purely a near mid air collision and trust me birds crash as much as we do in cars. Shot using an 800mm prime which compress the images and make things look closer than what they. The Osprey was from the second clutch of a pair off Ospreys I had been documenting for three years, was about 6 months old and still learning to fish, this day he had had 5 goes and missed each time this was his 6th attempt and just like you or me when he came out of the water missing his prey he looked down at his claws to make sure they were working, the Spoonbill was coming in for a landing and the Osprey looked up and "well you could easily fill in what went through his head" Like parachutes they both but the air brakes on and took evasive action passing each other with a touch of wings. Some say lucky shot, yes!!!! but it is made luck, being out there everyday chasing and stalking. :) Enjoy.
