About the Shot
“Dust Silvered by the Sun” In the American Midwest exist slot canyons carved by turbulent storm waters over thousands of years. In this canyon we had to climb down about 30 feet to arrive at this cathedral of etched sandstone. Above us the sun enters through cracks in the earth lighting the ground with orbs of light. Slanting light gives life to dust agitated by wind traveling along this slot canyon. While waiting for the rays of light I could not help but feel the palpable stillness and peace that surrounds you. I guess that when we bring our attention to anything natural. Something of its essence then transmits itself to you. In realizing this, you too come to a place of peace deep within yourself. This is the best description of what it feels like to sit inside this cathedral of stone and wait for the right moment to press the shutter.
