About the Shot
I was never a religious person, although, I did attend Catholic school from first grade until sixth. The only reason I was taken out was because my father had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. The family couldn't afford it anymore and the money was needed for renovating the house for wheelchair access and so on.
My faith as a child never really existed and the little that did, for me, vanished when my father changed that year. He was an avid runner, hiker, and builder of wood furniture, electrician, fisherman, hobby photographer, and in one sweep all of that was taken away from him. The years upon years we spent camping in Northern California around Lassen Park ended, I continued to go with friends, but trips with dad, stopped. Everything affected him, the heat, his memory, his movement, his temper was at times unbearable, still is...to this day. I love him very much.
Cathedrals always scared me, but I always found them beautiful. This shot was taken with a 1967 Minolta. I remember standing there thinking, "Maybe, maybe a little sign for me? can my faith come back?" Maybe one day. -Paris, France
