About the Shot
The Dutch Delta-works are famous all over the world. I wanted to shoot a photo in which the symbolic values of the works could be shown at once. I found a wonderful spot, nearby the constructed dam, just behind a very corroded and decayed fence. The contrast of the two fences, one of hard concrete and the other one made of weak metal, shows what the influence of the salty conditions in this area can result in. The metal fence, shortly after I shot it, was replaced by a new one, for a dozen times already. The concrete seems unbreakable, for 50 years now.
Shot at the Oosterschelde Kering, Netherlands.
