About the Shot
"The Last Sonata" was created in my school studio floor. By taking well over 50 exposures and blending them together, the photo is able to print very large. The meaning is poetic and I like to leave that up to the viewer, however I have a few thoughts. To me, this image is not of a person but rather of his mental state. We the viewers are invited into the inner workings of a creative brain. The word in the title "Last" however seems to hint at a negative forthcoming moment. I like to think this is the all-tim greatest piece of music ever created, but in writing it, the man lost his mind... Prints at 33x43 at 300ppi and is great enlarged. This series ("Visions") is a collection of large-scale surreal imagery inspired by altered perspectives in the dreaming state, where our reality is sometimes a bit sideways, or even completely upside down. Within this work, you are being told only fractions of a story and left to fill in the gaps with your own imagination.
