About the Shot

On Monday, December 19, 2011, Sarah "Puna" Kihoi spends quality time with her eight-year-old granddaughter Tahlia Kihoi-Low near Keauhou, Hawaii. Having been her legal guardian for five years, Kihoi schools her granddaughter in traditional Hawaiian ways (including hula and ancient chanting) to help her preserve and appreciate her culture.
