About the Shot
BURNING REFLECTIONS
I clearly remember this shot like it was yesterday. Having a slight view of Lake Illawarra from my home means I am constantly tempted to jump in the car and race down to its edge in hope of a fiery sky. As the sun began to set I did the whole, 'will I, won't I' until I finally decided to pack the camera and go. I was still a distance away when the sky first fired, leaving me with that 'missed it' feeling. But as I reached my destination and continued setting up - the sky re-fired and I was fortunate to capture this. The dark mountain range across the centre does a great job of diving the water from the sky. Sometimes less is more.
